It's just good to go in with the expectation that it will be crowded. I know visitation has been up at all the National Parks the past few years. If you want less crowds than Yellowstone, I would suggest Grand Teton or Glacier. They have some spillover but not nearly as many ppl.

You mentioned you like other parks much better, could you give me a few suggestions. I'm not a crowd lover but want to go somewhere this summer with my family.

I'm so glad to hear found our post(s) helpful and that you had a wonderful time at Yellowstone. The park is really beautiful but I do think the crowds can definitely change the experience. I'm thinking next time it will be winter haha. Also, it's so great that you're taking your two kids on this adventure!

I just discovered your blog and love it! We are traveling around the US this year, my husband is a travel nurse and we have 2 kids. We only have 3 months in each city, and we have young kids, so our lists look a little different than yours, but they do overlap a lot. I’m so sorry that you didn’t love Yellowstone! We went there last year for the first time (mid-July) and absolutely fell in love! We must have been there on an off week because there weren’t really too many people. (Lots of mosquitos on the hikes though!) You are right that the park is crazy big and it takes a long time to drive from one place to another, but we camped for 3 nights and were able to see most everything. The reason it’s my fav national park is because it’s so incredibly diverse of a landscape that I really haven’t seen elsewhere. Love your blog and am going to reference it as we are exploring the US this year! Thanks!

Okay, I'll just say this out loud. I have been doing a lot of web search about Yellow Stone and then Google suggest me your article. It's strange how Google can read your mind because I wanted exactly a guide like this. I have already shared it with my squad and we are going to discuss over this this weekend for our trip in August. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for all of this amazing information. You have just made it so much easier for me to decide where to go and what to do at Yellowstone especially when it comes to getting away from the crowds.

After that, you can decide if you ever want to go back. haha personally, I like some of the other parks much better.

Wow, this is THE best laid out guide I have seen and I've even purchased a couple of guide books. Thank you for putting this all together. This is everything I needed to plan my trip!

Great guide! Yellowstone is pretty close to me (well, it's a ten-hour drive) but I've never been (mostly because I hate driving!). This guide makes me want to go!
